Arkel makes what you are looking for. http://www.panniers.com Look for something they call "utility basket" on their site. It is just one big sack, maybe a little bit bigger than a grocery bag. Good quality and reasonably priced. |

BD in Fla Milk crate on top (aka file crate in discount stores) carries two full paper bags of groceries easily. In addition you can hang plastic bags tied to the sides for overflow, and if you have a cable lock, drape the cable across the top and hang more from it. I recommend a double luggage rack, a regular stay-supported one and the bare inside beam of a seat-post rack tied to it underneath, to supply both vertical support and (chiefly) side-to-side support. Greatly increases the weight you can carry easily. The Bell seat-post rack stinks by itself but the plastic comes off easily leaving a perfect beam you can use (remove one hex screw). Support the milk crate with a light cross-beam of wood under the back end, so that all the overhang weight back there is spread across the width of the crate rather than being at the rack contact point. Do that, and it lasts a long time, and carries a huge amount. -- Ron Hardin On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk. |

This is the direct link: http://www.panniers.com/panniers/uti...ndex.asp?site= Arkel's stuff looks really nice, but I haven't used it. These, from Jandd are nice, and less expensive: http://www.jandd.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=FGBP |

Any recommendations? nashbar has "townie bags" which collapse with velcro when empty, but expand to full grocery bag size. i use them for schlepping laundry, library books, etc. now on sale for $16.99 each. http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...eid=&pagename= get the yellow/black ones for visibility. mine have been going strong for several years. |

Jeff, thanks for the information, inexpensive DIY hard bags, what a great
idea! First thing I've seen that won't squish the bread. Here is another view, http://members.rogers.com/bphuntley/BikeBucket.html Thanks again, BD wrote in message oups.com...
