Default Octalink Crank Removal - Stripped Ritchey Crank

I just put a new Ritchey WCS octalink crank on my road bike. It went on
kind of tight and creaked a lot on my first ride. I tried tightening it,
but it still creaked. I went to pull it, and the removal threads came out
like nothing. Are there any special removal tools tools or methods
available to remove a crank in this situation? Any way to fix the threads?

I've thought about removing the BB adjustable cup, then getting a bolt
without the flange and threading it into the axle, then putting a set of
shaped wood blocks between the crank and the fixed cup, then tapping the BB
axle out. Any other suggestions?
Thx for any help or references.
Mike

Grease the splines of the BB? Should have. If the threads are history, so is
the crank, you'll get if off, perhaps w/o damaging it, it will go back on but
getting it off will be a chore.

You might still be able to use a crank puller, like this:
http://www.parktool.com/tools/CCP_4.shtml

the threads on the crank may be stripped only so deep, as the so called
'self extracting' cranks only have a small set of threads, and the cover is
often soft aluminium. Are there any threads left in the crank? If you're
lucky, the stripping occurred mostly on the dust cap.

As mentioned previously, greasing the splines is very important, and I would
like to believe this was mentioned in the instructions :-)
