Chain tool recommendation?
I have made my way through several bikes without ever having a need for a
chain tool. The time has come and I would like to know what is recommended? I have Shimano 9 spd, SRAM 9 spd and Campy 10 spd chains to deal with. Thanks |

Thanks I use a chaintool once for each chain: to shorten it when new. Then I use a quicklink (sram, connex or whatever). Any cheap chaintool is OK for that purpose. Lou |

Does the quicklink have to be replaced when the chain is worn out?

When I replace the chain I replace the quicklink. Often a quicklink is included when you buy a new chain ie SRAM or Connex/Wipperman. The 'old' quicklink goes in my saddlebag as a spare. Lou |

It allows a much easier, and usually better, field repair for a broken chain than carrying around a few links of chain and a chain tool. Well, you should have those as well. -- David L.
