hybrid cars and bikes

What's everyone think of the Toyota Prius Honda Civic hybrid and the like ?
The Prius has what they call stealth mode (i.e. all electric mode) no
motor/exhaust noise sometimes. And they are smaller for now so for a
bicycle to take the lane you really have to out there but they reduce our
dependence on oil and they run cleaner than most so I say bring on the
hybrids !

If any vehicle, hybrid or not, is small enough to safely *share* a lane why
would you worry about *taking* that lane? And if it's not small enough to
safely share the lane, what difference does it make how it is powered?
