Default Giro Switchblade parts, or a similar replacement?

Hi all,

Does anyone have any idea on a site that I may be able to get new pads
for my switchblade, or am I going to have to get a whole new helmet at
this point? I promised myself after I got the new teeth installed that
I wouldn't ride without a full face again, and I promptly went out
and bough the lightest and most comfortable version I could find. That
was in '03 or so if memory serves, and the helmet was a Switchblade.
Since then, however, the pads have basically disintegrated. As an
aside, I've lost a few pounds of hair since then, so it was not
fitting as snug as safe would dictate anymore anyway. I was on the
thinnest pads, so I think a real thick set would now bridge the gap
nicely.

The thing is, I've looked around and can't seem to find a pad set
for this helmet anymore. Am I SOL on finding pads for a helmet once
it's discontinued? If so, does anyone have a recommendation for a
light, well ventilated full face? I've never once removed the face
guard, even on the road, so I think a one piece model would be OK if it
wasn't overly heavy & under ventilated. I ride primarily XC & road,
with a bit of BMX, park & stupid MTB tricks thrown in, so I don't
want a three pound motocrossish helmet.

If I do buy another helmet, I'll buy an extra set of pads & an extra
visor (long snapped) as well this time to keep from being stuck in this
boat again. May not be a bad investment to keep from having a useless
~$190 helmet that you can't use.

TIA,

Dan

Most helmets come with additional pads of different thickness, and they are
rarely used. You should be able to source some from other rides, or from
your local MTB shop. Another option is to e-mail Giro. The cost of the
pads is so small that they'd probably send you some for free.
