I just perused a site and saw that a Scott Spark, which looks like a
carbon Jamis, retails for $5300.

Wow.

Then I saw that a Spesh S-Works Enduro Carbon goes for $7100.

WOW.

Yeah, the latest carbon bike from Specialized are off the charts! My
friend (who owns a shop) got the carbon Enduro and loves it, but damn! I
don't think I could spend that much on a bike, even if I had it to
spare. Of course if I /really/ had it to spare I might change my tune
but it just seems excessive.

I do love the lines of the new Specialized frames, even the old
fashioned metal ones. They look sweet! I hear they ride very nicely too.

Our local Power Ball winner who netted over $200 million won't even
spend that much on a bike. His main bike shop pal is a riding buddy
of mine, who says the money's been good, the guy is generous, but not
extravagant. $3k bikes is about as high as he goes, but he invests a
lot into the sport, sponsors races, kids' programs, that sort of
thing.

Two hundy MILL?!? Hell, with that much money I'd hire JD to ride the rig(s)
for me! (He works for burritos and beer, I hear.)

I have a carbon road bike (built up frame), but would be a little worried
about crashing a carbon mtb. I'd have to be convinced, I think...

I'd like to think that's the kind of instant millionaire I'd be too. Of
course, I might just lose it a pull a MC Hammer, but probably not (maybe
some of you could be in my entourage?).
My problem with winning the lottery is you actually have to buy a
ticket. My chances just aren't looking very good at the moment.

I guess I'll just work for a living for the time being... :P

$200mil? Hoodeelala. I wouldn't last two weeks with that kind of
disposeable income. That there is "soil yourself freely" money.

The lottery is basically a tax on stupidity. If all that money
supposedly going to education were working, nobody would be buying any
tickets ;-).

Now that's funny. I never looked at it that way. Reminds me of all
the money the casinos are supposedly making for the indian
reservations out here. You sure don't see much improvements on the
reservation, except for a few fat cats...

Funny, just posted what I thought of the Carbon Enduro and then saw this
post. I paid way less even in Canadian dollars, but it's worth every penny
: )
