More questions on close-ratio triples
I'm building up a replacement for my old OCLV, which will get a triple
crank with 30/39/53 or 30/39/50 and probably 13/25 cassette at most, or perhaps even 13/23. I wonder if I can use a Campy 'medium' cage since I'm not wrapping many links more than a compact rig. The max for a compact rig has to be at least 13*29 with a 34/50 which is equal to the chainwrap on the 13/25 with 30/50...so will it shift well with a triple front derailleur and "only" a medium cage rear? IIRC, the medium cage is rated for 29 rear, and I cant' find the chainwrap specs on Campy's site. |

If the large ring is 50, then yes. You will not run the 30 ring on smaller than a 16 cogwheel. I did similarly with a 48-38-28 triple, 12-21 cluster, and DA derailleur. 48/21 wraps 69 28/12 wraps 40 -------------- 29 -- Michael Press |
