To Ed,

For a long time I have taken the position that you should be welcomed to
this group. Actually my position has been that everyone should be welcome. I
don't really think that has changed. However,

It is difficult to imagine that you can not see that group has become what
you have made of it.

You have taken pride in being the "All Time Poster" in terms of number of
messages. I think that means that you have left a pretty big stamp on the
group. jwold, Ed Gin, or whatever his (or her) name is, is a reaction to
what you have created. Without Ed Dolan there would be no jwold postings.

While the idea of "Fight Fire With Fire" is a well know cliche, when you
actually do it, you end up with a bigger fire. If it is fire you want then
it is fire you've got. But don't pretend that you have nothing to do with
it.

If the group happens to be composed of mostly liberals then that is what the
group is made up of. It really isn't your place to decide what points of
view are welcome and what points of view are not.

What this group has become is what you, the all time, number one poster, has
made it.

I am certain that you will respond to this post as you respond to just about
everything.

For the record, I have no intention of carrying on a dialog with you about
the point's I've raised in this posting. It is a pointless exercise as is
this message itself I suppose. This means that I will not respond to
anything that you answer and I don't think I'll start another thread since I
don't have anything else to add.

As I always have (and always will), I wish you well.

Jeff

No, you freaking moron, not everyone should be welcome! That is a god damn
liberal idea bathed in political correctness that should have a stake driven
through the heart of it. How do you get to be so stupid?

It is difficult to imagine that you can not see that group has become what

Wrong again! Ed Gin is what he is - human scum. The question is how do you
keep human scum off of a newsgroup. There is no way to do it if the group
does not have a moderator. ARBR needs a moderator just like any civilized
group does. Without a moderator, you get human scum like Ed Gin and there is
nothing you or anyone else can do about it.

While the idea of "Fight Fire With Fire" is a well know cliche, when you
actually do it, you end up with a bigger fire. If it is fire you want then
it is fire you've got. But don't pretend that you have nothing to do with

**** Ed Gin and all those who post like him! The rest of you are cowards not
to stand up to this bully asshole.

If the group happens to be composed of mostly liberals then that is what
the group is made up of. It really isn't your place to decide what points
of view are welcome and what points of view are not.

I insist on balance and, by God, there will be balance here if I have to
blow a gasket.

What this group has become is what you, the all time, number one poster,
has made it.

The rest of you have proven yourselves to be cowards. ARBR deserves to die
and Ed Gin and I will kill this ****ing group. Get a moderator or get lost!
The BROL type of forum is the ONLY way to go.

I am certain that you will respond to this post as you respond to just
about everything.

So how are you coming along with your rehabilitation from your accident? If
you can no longer cycle I recommend that you walk. It is safer and just as
healthy.

Thank you for asking.

Walking has, unfortunately, become a very unpleasant activity. One of the
residual effects is that I have a foot drop on my right side. The result is
that my right foot is always dragging and getting caught when I walk. I have
been fitted for a brace that should help. We'll see.

On the other hand I have been back in the gym for quite some time and I have
recovered strength I haven't had in years. I have also returned to martial
arts study. I was able to locate a school whose philosophy of training is
that "you work with whatever you've got". They are not rigid about how
things have to be done. They teach you to do what you are able to do with
the tools that you have.

So even though I can't ride (yet!), I would say things are going pretty
well.

Thanks again for asking.

Jeff, you are going to do just fine because of the attitude you have about
it. I wish I could be more like you in that respect. I am always in despair
about most things. Why I am this way I do not know but I have always been
like this. I am a total pessimist about everything.

Best of luck to you.

Jeff, I have complete contempt for anyone who posts to Usenet who does not
use their real name. You and I use our real names, That is why I accord you
respect that I could never accord anyone who does not perform this very
elementary courtesy of using their real name.

I KNOW that the SPAMMING TROLL is Ed Gin and I will continue to skewer him
forever. He is human scum and that is how I shall treat him for all
eternity. Real names count and user names are for ****heads like Ed Gin -
period!

Jeff Grippe is a very funny fellow indeed. Let's have a look at this
newsgroup for a moment from my perspective.

It is mostly made up of working class slobs who are not in the least
intellectual. I have made allowances for this and cut everyone a lot of
slack on this issue. After all there is nothing wrong with being a working
class slob. Hells Bells, it is what makes the world go around. A working
class slob is a hundred times more important than I am.

But I am not a working class slob. I am an intellectual. I live in the mind
and for the mind. What I bring to this newsgroup is priceless if you had the
wit to appreciate it. Yes, I am off-topic most of the time, but I add
interest to what would otherwise be a very dull newsgroup. After all, there
is only so much that can be said about recumbent bicycles. Truth to tell, I
am always amazed at how little working class slobs appreciate intellectuals
like me.

Jeff Grippe is a New York Jew and I expect more of him than I do the rest
of you. Why he does not appreciate me more than he does is a very great
mystery to me. That he would equate me with the SPAMMING TROLL is the
ultimate insult. Jeff Grippe needs to reexamine his perspective on this
newsgroup.

I am contentious because I believe that is the only way to get the old
mental juices flowing. I will often say things that even I don't believe
just to get a rise out of someone - anyone! Damn it all to hell, don't you
just hate boring posts that say nothing? Let us all try to say something and
let the chips fall where they may. We will all of us be dead soon enough and
food for worms, but let's have some fun while we are still alive.

Jeff,

Pardon the top post. I have to agree with virtually all you have had
to say with but a singular exception. If the group has become what Ed
Dolan has made it and the spamming posts are a reaction to what he
created and without him there would be no such postings, that doesn't
account for why I am also the focus and target of these posts
especially since I was if anything an adversary of Dolan's and even
defended Ed Gin when Dolan asserted that Ed Gin's website hosted
pornographic images when it most assuredly did not..

Thank you again for the encouragement.

Regarding your opinion of me/you, the saying is "It takes all kinds"

In my opinion, there is real value in the pessimist. It is important to have
someone like you around when I'm about to charge headlong into something
stupid. I married someone who is fairly pessimistic most of the time and the
relationship works pretty well. Having you be you and me be me keeps life
interesting.

Again I thank you for your good wishes.

I said I wouldn't carry on a discussion about this. Add liar to my list of
qualities.

For the record, I appreciate you quite a bit as I've often said.

I do not equate you with the SPAMMING TROLL.

Regarding the SPAMMING TROLL: I find the actions of the person who has been
posting your and Jim's addresses to be completely deplorable. His behavior
is completely and utterly unacceptable. He is pointlessly vulgar and serves
no other function than to irritate. I would like him to stop what he is
doing.

Regarding you: At times I wish you were more civil and willing to engage in
real dialog but it is fine with me if you do what you do. I've stopped
responding to most of what you post.

What I said and I stand by is that the ST is a reaction to what you have
posted. It is a cause and effect relationship. However, there is nothing
that you've ever said that justifies this type of response.

In Summary:
1. Your behavior lead to the ST
2. The ST's behavior is despicable and should be condemned by all
3. Your behavior is just you being you which has always been fine with me.

In case the ST decides that I now belong in his sites, I am...

Top post, no problem.

Jim,

Just so we get my POV correct, however, the behavior of Ed Gin is completely
unacceptable. The behavior of ED is simply ED doing what ED does. I have no
problem with self-expression that I don't happen to agree with.

As many people have pointed out, there are mechanisms available to filter
out ED's posting if that is what you want to do.

I stand by my description of the cause/effect relationship but I also
believe that Ed Gin (or whoever it is) has crossed a line that ED has not.

Most of the time I have said that it is my opinion that ED is welcome. I
don't feel that way about the ST. There is a line that ST has crossed that
ED has not.
