Cyclist in accident drives off
"Peter Grange" wrote in message ... SNIP "Under Control" seems to mean something completely different to many dog walkers than it does to me. I know it is a different set of circumstances but not so long ago near to me a farmer shot a dog that was running through his field. The owner complained bitterly, the farmer said that as it was in his field not on a lead it was not under control whether it worried his sheep or not. I personally believe that under control is on a shortish lead unlike the old dears who are on the canal bank with dog at one side and them at the other. I nearly said something to a woman last week as I was on the towpath - I heard her saying to a chap that cyclists ought to slow down as the sign says to give way to other users as they go along at 50mph. She was refering to 2 kids in front of me who were going a bit faster than I was (10mph). The chap was walking 3 little dogs none of them on leads and one was 30 yards behind the others and kept stopping to crap. He of course wasn't going to walk back and clean it up as the signs say he has to or actually keep control of his dogs who were free to walk where they wanted. Dave |

There is nothing in the story to indicate whether the speed of the cyclist was high, low or something between. We can only guess, perhaps based on our personal prejudices. Some pedestrians appear to get upset even if a cyclist is travelling at walking pace. What these pedestrians appear to be upset at is that the cyclist is alive, not how the cyclist is behaving. It is usually that the cyclist is illegally on the pavement from my observations. -- if you're going to make snide insinuations about the author, as you undoubtedly did, then you can **** right off. No blinkers involved nully, I was pointing out the main differences between Judith and "judith" to BB (who may have got the names mixed). I didn't think that including attempted sarcasm, selective snipping and trolling amongst the list of "judith's" 'attributes' was necessary for correct identification. -- Colin N. No sarcasm intended Colin, I was merely expressing my opinion that it was possible you were blinded to the actions of some regulars. I only 'selectively snipped' in order to cut down on the length of the message, but I'm sure you'll agree that reading the full posts that I snipped from will show I've not 'misrepresented' them in any way. As for trolling, are you aware of the expression that goes along the lines of "One mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter"? |

So Paul, are you saying that a dog walker on the path has a 'duty of care' to watch for cyclists moving faster than him, and to 'make way' (for want of a better phrase) if one comes along? Would you expect a group of walkers on a narrow country road to give way when you come up behind them in your car? |
