Default Biking in New York State

All,

I'm looking for some suggestions for biking in NYS from anyone that has
done that. Requirements a
* Paved (smooth or course)
* Safe - no fast car or truck traffic, rapid elevation changes that
limit front/rear visibility, or tight turns that also limit visibility.
* Scenic. We did the Erie Canal from Syracuse (DeWitt) East, and it was
not a good ride. The trail was (in many places) narrow, unpaved, and
ugly. Won't do that one again.
* At least 10 miles one-way.
* Intermediate-friendly - few large hills

Thanks, and keep on pedalling!

You don't say where in NY. I'm in Montreal and we often go to the
Champlain Islands area for rides.

Thanks! I plan to bike in a number of parts of NYS this year.
