"Testimate"??? Is that, like, a ballsy buddy? Guess as to scrotum
size/weight? Over-sensitive significant other?

"Before crawling up on the roof to string the Christmas lights, you
need to know that every year, hospital emergency rooms treat about
12,500 people for injuries, such as falls, cuts and shocks, related to
holiday lights, decorations and Christmas trees, according to the U.S.
Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

"Dave on the Roof" is a story told by CBC's Stuart McLean on The Vinyl
Cafe Christmas Concert CD.

While decorating the house for xmas, Dave freezes his tongue to the
antenna mast and the rest is an uproariously comical story without
dirty words. "Dave Cooks a Turkey" is even funnier.

Worth downloading or taking from the library if you've not heard them.

That's the norm for around here. Ever since the BPA dammed the
Columbia and
created really cheap ( back then) electricity, they go absolutely
freaking
nuts with the lights and accessories around here. We simply could NOT
believe it when we moved up here. People plan all year for the extra
2-300
on their utility bills. They have neighborhood contests, where it
looks
like Wal-Mart threw up a holiday warehouse across whole developments.
They
have tour buses that drive around, xmas music blaring from outdoor
speakers,
giant inflatable snowmen bigger than a house that are run with fans
and
motors..

bah, humbug. No lights for me.

Sounds like loberthal in South Australia. same thing with bus tours and
absolute gridlock of cars. AGL the local electricitc suppler sponsors
the event and anyone registered gets a discount off their bill. Had a
friend who lived in the area but thought the whole thing was a croc and
did not participate and was visited by members of the council who
berated him for not joining in the towns event and that maybe he would
be better off in another town.

You got inflatable yard ornaments down under? Of course you do (as sad
and sorry as those things look in winter weather, retailers wouldn't
miss the opportunity to peddle more of them).

Your pal should have picked up the Grinch one. No lights tinsel
glittering UFOs in the trees plastic carolers wreaths. Just the Grinch.

Ooohh, Stuart McLean.

Before evacuating metro Detroit I went to a live Vinyl Cafe performance
in Windsor. SM is quite the storyteller, plus he looks nice in pants.
He even replied to his own e-mail (but then I mentioned G-rris-n
K--llor and I guess he blocked me).

Last time I checked, VC was not available for time-shifted listening
on-line, but some US NPR stations are gradually picking it up.
