Er .... Am I missing something here, WHERE is Mark Cavendish in the

The madison is a 'tag points race' where you have two riders with only
one active at any one time. even more tactical.

Yes. He forms part of a near perfect team with Bradley Wigggins.
Madison teams need a sprinter and a stayer. Cav is the sprinter to get
the points or make a break and Bradley is the stayer to build that
break. The only thing that is sub optimal is their height difference
which makes the handsling between them less efficient than it could
be.

Same place as the Swiss pair of Franco Marvulli and Bruno Risi, marked
into oblivion :-(
