Default Intentional Cyclist Traps (Canberra)

On my way home last night I found a cyclist trap set along my usual route.
I use a short section of dirt singletrack to link the off-road and
on-road cycle paths, and partway along some upstanding citizen had laid a
3m long tree branch about 50mm in diameter diagonally across the track.

The location is marked with a green arrow in this link, in the unlikely
event that anyone here uses the same route:

I spotted it in time to stop, since the nearby road is well-lit and they
hadn't found a deeply shadowed area. I removed it a short distance away.

2" in diameter? Wouldn't you just ride over it without noticing? ;^)

Tony F
expecting it was probably raised off the ground, and thinking that
your description of the citizen was very generous.

That sucks - I haven't had a problem in a few years but up on the
trails behind the AIS there used to be all sorts of traps including
string at chest height one day.

At the moment the road building on Northborne Avenue is a real pain.
The only upside is that I'm finding more scenic commuting routes!
