Default Tandem Tour of Europe... help!

Hello everyone...
apologies for this obtrusive or off-topic post, but we were wondering
if anyone in Europe could help a few tourers out. We are 2 Canadians
touring Europe by tandem. A few days ago, it was stolen in Northern
Europe. We still have 1/2 of our trip to go and are hankering to get
back on the road. Does anyone know of any used touring tandems that
are available in Europe? We're willing to do upgrades if necessary,
we're just keen on the tandem frame. A store or a friend maybe?

We are currently in Stockholm, and plan to continue cycling somewhere
near Prague (we'll plane/train/bus to Prague or anywhere in between to
pick up a bike if we have to). Cheers to anyone who can be of
assistance.

Thanks again,
Brad Zarikoff

Here are a couple in Germany:

Wow, serious bummer! You might try contacting Wolfang Haas at Santana
Europe. He's located in Rosenheim, Germany (near Munich) and is
well-connected with the tandem community (and a nice guy). Sometimes
he has used tandems for sale. He helped us out two years ago on one of
our European tours when our tandem had some problems. Here's the
contact info:

You could also try the country-specific eBay sites (ebay.de for
Germany, ebay.uk for England, etc.).

Thanks James. We'll be checking out those links.

If possible though, we'd like to restart our trip in Prague. Does
anyone know of a good tandem store in or near Prague????

Thanks, and Cheers,

Brad Zarikoff

Tandem shops are few and far between in most of Europe. I highly doubt
you'll find one in CZ.

Cannondale tandems are popular in Europe... you may want to look up a
Cannondale dealer in the area you want to go to and give them a call.

Wolfgang Haas' bike shop in Roshenheim is probably the biggest tandem
shop in all of Europe. I'd definitely start with him. You can get to
Prague via train without too much hassle from the Munich area (we just
did it in May, with a tandem).

To tie off this thread for good, I thought I'd post the outcome of our search (better late than never, right?).

We found a shop in Weingarten, Germany (http://weingarten.feineraeder.de/). The proprietor was incredibly helpful in helping us out, and even went so far as to pick us up at the train station and put us up for the night in a spare bedroom (I suppose we sounded desperate!). In the end, we purchased a slightly used Zwei-plus-Zwei touring tandem, which saw us through the remaining 4000 km of our 2004 trip, and a number of other trips since.

Thanks again Brian and James for all of the helpful directions and suggestions!

Brad
