Default Tributes paid to ‘stalwart’ Scots cyclist who tragically died after being knocked off his bike by car

QUOTE:
Dozens of tributes have been paid to a tragic Scots dad-of-two who died after being knocked off his bike by a car.

Martyn Gall was cycling on the A441 at Alvechurch in Worcestershire on Saturday when a vehicle crashed into him and a fellow rider on November 14.

The 41-year-old, who is originally from Cumnock, Ayrshire, was sadly pronounced dead a short time later while his friend was treated in hospital for ‘life-threatening’ injuries.

A woman, in her 20s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has been released pending an investigation, Birmingham Live reports.

Martyn, a transport manager and keen cyclist, was taking part in a regular ride out called the Sette Dodici when the tragic accident occured.

A fund in his memory has raised over £5000 while scores of tributes have poured in for the Royal Sutton Cycling Club member.

Club secretary, Jon Ellis, said: "On behalf of Royal Sutton Cycling Club and the cycling community, I’d like to express our great sadness at the tragic death of our clubmate and friend Martyn Gall on November 14.

"Cycling was a huge part of Martyn’s life and his death is a devastating loss for all who knew him.

"Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to his family at this unimaginably difficult time.”

Birmingham cycle store, Gear Up Birmingham, also paid tribute online.

A statement said: "Everyone at Gear Up CC would like to send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Martyn Gall who has sadly passed away after being in a collision while out riding with Sette Dodici.

The Boldmere Bullets Collective also paid tribute to Mr Gall and said: "I'm sure many of you will have already heard the tragic and unfathomable news that local cyclist Martyn Gall died.

“He was a very experienced cyclist and a stalwart of the Sette Dodici ride - many of us have shared the road with him at some point.

"Martyn leaves behind a wife and two young daughters as well as many close friends within our local cycling community.

"Although there is nothing we can do and it is impossible to comprehend what his family and friends are going through, we have started a fund so that as a collective we can contribute flowers for his funeral - any excess will be gifted to his family.”
