Should have pepper sprayed him.

There is nothing in that video to suggest that the arrest was made for
"going the wrong way".

It could just as easily have been a drugs arrest or an "assault police"
and nothing to do with the bike.

The poster clearly has an agenda;
----------------------------
Police brutality in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
This Italian tourist dared to cycle in the wrong direction, on his bike.
Apparently enough reason for Dutch authorities to roughen him up a bit...

Dutch police are well known to ignore true crimes, to prevent dangerous
situations for themselves. Instead, they mostly harass citizens for speeding
or minor offenses like this.
Being one of the smallest countries in the world, The Netherlands is also
known to have the lowest respect for privacy and the world's highest number
of phone taps by the government.

No, no, no... that's the blurb claimed by the person who posted the video.
That doesn't mean it's true.
None of it is supported by anything seen in the video.

The commentary of the bystander is a first hand account.

You see the commentary, do you?

AFAICS, it's just as likely that the arrest was for heroin-possession.
Who was the highly-vocal woman speaking English with a Spanish (or maybe
Latin American) accent?

While there is evidence to suggest that the cyclist was being arrested
for cycling contra flow on a one-way street, there is no evidence to
suggest it was a drugs arrest.

The evidence is the arrest itself and the manner of its execution. That is
not how cycling offences are dealt with in NL. It *is* the way that (most)
drug offences (or other offences of broadly equal seriousness, including
assault on police officers) is dealt with.

It is possible that the attention of the police was initially attracted by a
cycling offence, but going down a one-way street the wrong way - especially
in NL - is likely only to result in the offence being pointed out, with a
request that the offender desists and travels in the correct direction.
Something else must then have happened, unrelated to cycling.

The loud-mouthed woman is engaged in spin.

We all know spin when we hear it (or see it), don't we?

Excellent -we are being told that we should always emulate the Dutch when it
comes to cycling issues.

I quite agree.

It was an Italian tourist who was cycling where no cycling is allowed.
The police refuse to comment until the investigation is completed. The
signs are very unclear at that station. He does not speak Dutch and
will have not reacted to initial requests to dismount. Then the police
went mad.

Aha! When sober he realises his mistake.

Sorry sunshine - if I see a piece of dog-**** on the footpath I don't think -
Oh - it would be nice to have a chat with that.

An insult from an anonymous bottler is no insult at at all. Everyone
has now seen a real chicken-**** troll in action. Flicking v-signs
behind teacher's back. 51 years old and still too scared to stand up
and be counted. Cartoon character joke, spouting cheap ****.
