Default France TV 7/7 update

The most embarrassing moment so far this year: Jean-René Godart
interviewed Thomas Voeckler after the TTT and started by telling him
about how Armstrong patted him on the back after catching him on the
last climb, after Voeckler had a long solo breakaway. Voeckler starts
correcting him, saying he's mistaking him for Sylvain Chavanel in the
2003 Luz Ardiden stage, Godart insists then changes the subject. Even
I had to cringe with that one, despite my advanced cynicism.

Anyway, in response to his impression of Armstrong, Voeckler decided
not to say anything negative and stated that Armstrong was more
relaxed and nicer.

Voeckler also said that all the mishaps on their TTT was due to their
own mistakes, he did not blame the organisers.

The old Armstrong was be back, in spirit anyway, after the TTT, he
finally started speaking French to France TV after refusing for the
first 3 days. One exception, when asked about his rivalry with
Contador, he said it was better if he responded in English.

Looks like Voeckler's honesty earned him some karma points.... Not to say he
didn't earn today's result.

Today's highlight: Jean Rene Bernaudeau crying after Voeckler's win
(on JRB's birthday, just like when Voeckler got the yellow jersey in
2004). He was also crying with joy one year when his team had a 2 man
break 10km from the finish of the French championship.

How about this: They are secure and mature enough in their masculinity to be
able to express their emotion true emotions???

Voeckler is something out of the ordinary and that's for sure.

That's the very reasonable response of a person responding to a
complicated, diplomatically tricky request in a non-native tongue. He
can more accurately generate certain nuances.

Also, if it gets reported unfavorably in the French press, he can claim
a mistranslation.
