Here in the USGPNW post Autumnal Equinox I'm into:

Duofold T base top
Ibex wool shorts
DeFeet wool knee warmers
Wool socks (forgot what brand)
Shimano MTB shoes
DeMarchi long-sleeved wool jersey
Neoprene booties or toe covers if raining
Full-finger gloves

(Afternoons may go with half-finger gloves and may get
by without knee warmers - might even use short sleeved
jersey but that means I have to haul it along or...
some mornings I can get by with the short sleeved synthetic
jersey plus wool arm warmers instead of the wool jersey,
which is really kind of a light sweater.)

Later in the season will add wool arm warmers under the outer
jersey, full length leg warmers (if not raining), booties even
if not raining, Descent headband ear cover, *heavier* full-
finger or even lobster mitt gloves - may go for heavier wool
sweater and thermal bib on the bitterest cold mornings.

I really like the DeFeet wool "kneekers" and arm warmers 'cause
they're so modular. You can even adjust them to cool without
taking them off.

I've got a rain jacket but getting the internal thermostat
calibrated is tricky. Climbing especially in the rain jacket
just gets me soaking wet anyway.

I really want to try a new glove combo of deerskin shell and
wool liner.

A nice fringe benefit: I can hang the sweater / jersey after
sweating in it and wear it again. The synthetics need washed
every single day.

Mostly Nashbar closeouts. The heavy wool sweater is my favorite
piece of clothing. Imbued with magic properties.

Sweet! (the white looks nice, too).

Bike Commute Challenge was giving away donated Showers Pass
jackets this year; but do they award one to the guy who rode
1100+ miles for the challenge, and rides year-round? No.

It's a Performance Bike thing. The waterproofing is shot,
but it still helps (actually might breathe better this way),
and can keep me ~dry on top if I don't get too sweaty.

It's a good shell against the cold off the bike, too.

No vent in back... well, there is a zippered mesh pocket, but
my messenger bag would cover it anyway.

It's got really huge zippered pit vents - always open - its
saving grace.

ad a strip of nylon inside to scupper.

good thinking...
