Default How to remove brand stickers from frame?

Hi!

I just bought a used racer, which has rather ugly brand stickers. The
frame itself would look a lot nicer without them, having a nice black
finish. Is there a proven technique to remove these stickers? I have
tried to remove them just by scratching with the nails and I have also
tried gazoline/petrol, but it didn't work very good. The frame isn't
worthy of a refinishing, it is a rather simple bike.

Any ideas?

Per.

I would suggest a low level of applied heat, such as can be
accomplished with a hair dryer. After peeling off the decals, the
adhesive residue is easily removed with mineral spirits.

If they are under the clearcoat, forget about it. If on top, use a
hair dryer and soften and pull off.

Is there a hobby shop around? There are decal solvents - at least 2
kinds. One is strong for removal, another is a bit weaker to soften the
decal so it will mold itself more completely to the surface (ie, for
model trains, to fit between molded-in planking, rivets, etc).

Been there did that -- nevermind any advise you hear to use decal
solvents or Xylene if the decals are covered with clearcoat. You'll
know that the decals are clearcoated when solvents don't faze the
decals or when scraping with a blade removes only clearcoat. In such a
case I spent a lot of time using razor blades to remove decals where
the decals presented superficial irregularities and then sanded smooth
the blemishes and buffed all surfaces prior to re-painting upon the
original paint.
