I was thinking Debian might have more current versions of the various apps, because Ubuntu seems to err on the "safe/works" side. Most of the time, that is - I still haven't upgraded past 10.04 because of the video issues I discovered when doing so (no longer pertinent to me because I don't have a computer with Intel video anymore) and 10.04 is supposedly the "LTS" release so I don't "need" to upgrade for a couple years yet. I started w/ Ubuntu on 9.04 and while the software was more current for 9.10 and 10.04, 9.04 was actually the least problematic distro that I've used. If 12.04 continues the downward spiral, that might be when I give Debian a try. nate -- replace "roosters" with "cox" to reply. http://members.cox.net/njnagel |

Seems to have been a bug with Ubuntu and it may well be fixed by now. At the time, tried Fedora and no problems. I was pretty familliar with RedHat anyway. Issues that I have using Linux at the office is that I prefer to develop with VS, especially for embedded/Qt devices rather than Eclipse and I prefer to use TortoiseSVN to manage my SubVersion VCS rather than either the command line Linux one or the one you can install in Eclipse. It's funny, I nearly didn't take this job when I found out that it was a windows shop. I guess I got used to it. |

Turns out the guy had a helluva lot more in common with Chalo (9-11 Truther, Bush Derangement Syndrome, far left reading material, drug use, etc. etc.) than any Tea Partier. LMFAO What's funny is that everyone of you radical righties got the memo and are trying this exact same lie of omission. It gets old, and reflects poorly on your intellect--though most of us did lose any respect for your dittohead politics long long ago. |
