Shimano Canti Return Spring
It seems the last time I had my wheels off for a thorough bike cleaning that
I "sprung" the return springs on my cantis. I put a drop of tri-flow on the brake bosses and then "worked" the levers back and forth a few times to work the lube in. When I reinstalled my wheels three out of four of the cantis that would not spread to release because the springs were not pushing out. To fix this I just pulled the springs out to retension them to provide outward force. Questions - Anyone else have this happen? What did I do wrong? Will retensioning them like I did cause problems down the road? Did I hurt anything? They do seem to work ok. Thanks, Mish |
