Yea, but,,, it was the USA that allowed those conditions.

China has MFN (Most Favored Nation) trading status with the USA. One of
the results of that is China gets a special postal rate for sending
stuff to the USA, that is much less than other countries pay, and that
is even lower than what you'd pay to send the same item across town in
the USA.

Plus--the China/HK mail traffic is expedited, and so the import
regulations are more lax for it. So you get a lot more things coming in
that are banned for intellecual property reasons (counterfeit brands) as
well as things that are banned in the USA for safety reasons (things
like traser keychains, hazardous homeopathic medicines, base chemicals
and technical radioactive materials).

Additionally, the USA is one of the few countries that doesn't charge
import tariffs on small packages coming into the country for personal
use. I dunno what the cutoff value is, Mr Muzi or another
store-running-person may know from their own experiences. It's
apparently up in the hundreds of dollars, at least.

I don't recall all the details but I think it covers China, Hong Kong
and another country around there or two. Look up the "e-Packet" system
for more info (and many complaints from US-based merchants).

No, he didn't. https://www.ca9.uscourts.gov/content...ior_judges.php He stepped down as chief judge in 2014. It's a seven year term. He's not even senior status yet.

So what you're saying is that he's a member of the Supreme Court and not just another judge with the total ability to rule only over his own cases? Let me inform you Jay that YOU don't have the right to tell a judge that he is right or wrong. But I doubt that will change you so I'll simply forward this to the judge and the bar if you like.

I can't say I follow Federal judicial terms closely.

He retired as a member of the Supreme Court. He is simply a judge now. I have sat awaiting trial for some dumb-ass "felony" because I failed to appear for a traffic ticket when my memory was disconnected. During this time I saw a black man charged with murder be arraigned wearing an expensive suit (this guy was homeless) and a white guy also there on a murder charge that had a prison jumpsuit and chains between his wrists and ankles. What sort of left wing nutcake judge allowed this?

So do not act as if this guy should not be allowed as a judge.

Nobody is defending Kosinsky's sanity or probity. The
Constitution gives him a life term, which for us is a life

What are you talking about? Kozinski was never on the Supreme Court -- at least not on the US Supreme Court. He's a Ninth Circuit judge.

BTW, since when did clothing matter at an arraignment? It's a five minute process assuming no big issue with bail, and judges don't give a sh** what the defendants are wearing. Dress-up day is trial.

mail rates so high?

government is paying for a large chunk of operatingh the China Post
aircraft or any hired air transport.

Your argument doesn't hold water. As I have told you (and you can
check for your self) postage rates in many countries are lower, in
many cases far lower, then those in the U.S.

Are we to assume that any and all countries who's postage rates are
lower than the U.S. are involved in some sort of international
conspiracy to defraud the U.S.

This would be unfair trade practices which can be acted upon by other
countries. Just like an aircraft manufacturer just got slapped with a
hefty tariff even while a trade agreement was (still) in place.

You mean that all countries in the world must increase their postage
rates to match the extremely high rates in the U.S. ? Why isn't it
even more logical for the U.S. to drop their rates to match those in
other countries?

Run the numbers. The $3 includes shipping _and_ merchandise. The stuff
is also quite bulky, came in a padded envelope large than letter A. Via
aircraft.

This is about subsidies that in effect undermine the economy of other
countrides. Same as dumping and there are laws against dumping. There
also ought to be laws against "freight charge dumping". Or at least
actions. Well, we now have a president who understands this stuff.
Whether he does something about it is another matter.

Who said I don't like him on the court? I said he was mean. Different judges have different styles, and I've known plenty of brilliant-but-mean judges and some nice-but-bad judges and variations in between.

BTW, these are not imaginary or remote people to me. I have a Ninth Circuit argument next month. I know where to sign in; where to stand, etc. It's a job. "May it please the court, blah, blah, blah . . ." lectern light goes off. Done. I win some. I lose some. Life goes on. I liked the old days when they had the 1930s lectern clocks that didn't work.
