Default Stupid question re replacement forks

My machine currently has joke suspension front forks. They appear to have a
1" steerer.

Is it possible to replace them with a new set of rigid forks with a 1.125"
steerer? I realise that if this is the case I'll need to replace the races.

Very unlikely. If your frame was made for a 1.25" steerer and then has
adapter collars to take a 1" steerer then you can take out and throw away
the collars. However this is rare.

Thanks, Simon. I thought that that was probably the case
