The famous Trek 5200 has been discontinued. Here is Trek's

Slightly longer chain stays, normal reach brakes (also known as long
reach). Sounds like a great road bike to me!

how do you know it has longer chainstays? Can you tell from a picture?

Look at the space between the rear tire and the seat tube, more empty
space means longer chainstays.
The Pilot 59 has a compact crankset, 50/36, Trek has figured out not
everyone can ride Lances gearing.
The odd bit is no fender eyelets, one the reasons for long
reach brakes is fenders. Trek did put eyelest on 2300c, their rear suspension
road frame aka the Klein Reve. Look at the chainstays on the 2300c, the tire
almost touches the seattube, so you got a road bike with rear suspension
and long reach brakes and eyelets but limited tire clearance.
Somebody at Trek needs to go find an old Peugeot PX-10 and figure out
how to do an old timey stage race bike.

I have a catalog. And the picture does seem to have more space between
the tire and seat tube.
