isn't the final time trial a team time trial and i can not see ullrich's
team matching lance's in that time trial. hence ullrich will need to do more
than just staying close in the mountains. now is he capable of doing this on
his own without the aid of having the aid of the kind of climbers that lance
has surounded himself with.

Unless Lance really does something amazing during the next few days in the
mountains, he'll lose the race in the final time trial. Ullrich just needs
to stay close in the mountains and then crush the field again in the time
trial.

only the US version of letour.fr is showing stage 19 as a TTT. It is an
individual TT. I think Lance needs to make a statement tomorrow or he will
not survive the attacks in the Pyrennes. He has not made any statment yet
and the other teams are seeing him as weak. He has said in the past that he
thinks the competitor worthy of winning the yellow should also win the time
trials to show that they are the strongest rider. We'll see.

I vaguely remember the same comments about Santiago Botero from last year's
tour.

Does anybody remember what happened with Santiago Botero?

So last year is similar to this year ---- so far.

I remember hearing a lot of people saying Botero would climb with Lance in
the mountains. Anyone remember what happened to Botero in the mountains
after the first time trial?

Jan is not the climber he was in 96-97 and will be fortunate to limit his
losses in the pyreenes to 3-4 minutes. He lost 1.24 to Lance on Alpe d´Huez
and Lance was not even at his best that day, riding with a rubbing brake
for most of the stage.

Sorry Charlie. Ullrich is not the same rider as Botero. Botero has NEVER
even finshed ON the podium while Ullrich has never finished off the podium.

.... which is less than he lost two years ago, so will just wait and see.
