Default Snapped Handlebar

Was on the way home last night on the Yarra Trail and just as I was passing
under the Eastern Freeway near Dwights Falls there was a guy walking his
bike the other way and he had a fair bit of bark off of his right arm and
right leg. As I pulled up to see if he was OK, I noticed that the right
hand side of his handlebars had snapped where they meet the stem. He said
that he had just put his weight on the bars and the right one snapped,
sending him to the ground.

He was riding a silver mtb that looked to have a reasonable spec of running
gear (I didn't look too hard) but from what I could see, both the stem and
handlebars were a generic no-name model. The snap looked pretty clean and I
would say that it was not a very good feeling for him as he was heading for
the deck!!

I should have been thinking a bit quicker as I have a brand new Easton EA50
bar and stem combination at home that I could have offered him a deal on (I
am planning to sell it on Ebay soon).

Ride On,

Gags

Hmm, aluminium, known to have a fatigue life and be notch sensitive
good reason to buy a name brand, where they round off the edges of th
clamping surface.
