Nothing whatsoever, of course.

Other than your own blind anti-cyclist bigotry.

You make that sound like a bad thing.

Dave - Cyclists VOR. "Many people barely recognise the bicycle as a
legitimate mode of transport; it is either a toy for children or a
vehicle fit only for the poor and/or strange," Dave Horton, of Lancaster
University, wrote in an interim assessment of the Understanding Walking
and Cycling study. "For them, cycling is a bit embarrassing, they fail
to see its purpose, and have no interest in integrating it into their
lives, certainly on a regular basis."

How about some sensible guidance from the DfT: use shared use paths
with consideration for other users, and be ready to dismount and walk
your bike.

It is amazing that you think the DfT need to issue such guidance.

I suppose, however, you know as well as most that, cyclists do lack common
sense - and hence need such guidance spelling out to them

Add the word, *some* before *cyclists do lack common sense* and I will
agree with you.

If cyclists had any common sense - they wouldn't be cyclists.

If you had any common sense, you wouldn't place photographs of your
"trade", with an ashtray of filthy fag ends in the foreground, on your
website.

...and then there is that One White Plank...

Which white plank is that, halfwit? Where could I get a white plank?

You tell me. You are the one who sourced and installed the One White
Plank.

Since you cannot obtain white planks, it can only exist in your deluded
little mind.

And in your dodgy decking.

But since white planks don't actually exist, they can only exist in your
deluded little mind.

You are in denial.

I suppose that filthy ashtray doesn't exist either.

If he knows that "as well as most", then he will of course not "know"
that ridiculous no-fact at all.

The only people who "know" that are the stupid anti-cyclist mob.

And their "knowledge" is wrong.

It's very simple, if cyclists had any common sense - they wouldn't
cycle.

Thank you for proving yet again that you have absolutely no
understanding whatsoever of the subject.

I understand the subject perfectly.

Some of the many 'advantages' of cycling;

Painfully slow.
Involves great physical effort.
You get soaked/frozen/roasted/blown over by the weather. Makes you
sweaty & smelly.
Cause piles.
Reduces sperm count.
Makes you dress like an extra in a gay rave movie. Unable to carry
passengers or goods.
People laugh at you.
Makes you a sponging freeloader.
Leaves you vulnerable to proper traffic.

No wonder less than 2% of journeys are made by push bike.

It is not illegal to be in a minority.

I don't and I didn't say it was, but you did put the photograph of it

It is not possible for anybody who did so to make the statement you
made above.

Some of the many 'advantages' of cycling;

Painfully slow.

In some places.

In many others, it is the quickest form of transport.

Involves great physical effort.

Not as great as running, or even walking the same distance.

But enough to be useful for those who want/need some exercise (which
is most of us).

You get soaked/frozen/roasted/blown over by the weather.

Occasionally, if you don't dress sensibly for whatever the weather is.

Makes you sweaty & smelly.

If you are doing it as exercise, yes. But then so does whatever form
of exercise you use.

Cause piles.

Rubbish.

Reduces sperm count.

Rubbish.

Makes you dress like an extra in a gay rave movie.

Rubbish.

Unable to carry passengers or goods.

Passengers, agreed. Goods, Wong again.

People laugh at you.

For the subclass of people more commonly known as "morons", yes.

No rational people do.

Makes you a sponging freeloader.

Liar.

Leaves you vulnerable to proper traffic.

It is proper traffic.

No wonder less than 2% of journeys are made by push bike.

Wrong.

Total *distance* travelled by bicycle is around 2%.

Total number of journeys is way higher.

But then nobody has ever (to my knowledge) tried to suggest that bikes
are a good way to travel long distances other than for liesure
purposes.

They *are* a good and practical way to make short journeys,
particularly in an urban environment.

Are you *sure* about this "distance" claim?

Given the small number of cyclists encountered (compared to other road
transport), that idea is counter-intuitive.

Even number of journeys at 2% sounds as though it is an exaggeration,
but 2% of total passenger mileage doesn't ring true at all.

Only when cyclists queue jump or jump red lights. 12mph is slow.

Cycling is a particularly inefficient form of exercise.

You get soaked/frozen/roasted/blown over by the weather.

Occasionally, if you don't dress sensibly for whatever the weather is.

With a proper vehicle you don't need special clothing.

Makes you sweaty & smelly.

If you are doing it as exercise, yes. But then so does whatever form
of exercise you use.

But when cycling is used as transport, the riders arrive at work
stinking of sweat.

Cause piles.

As long as the goods are the size of Chinese takeaway.

People laugh at you.

For the subclass of people more commonly known as "morons", yes.

No, everyone does. Cyclists are regarded as total ******* by the vast
majority of people.

Makes you a sponging freeloader.

Liar.

The truth hurts.
Motorists pay £46 billion a year in extra taxes, specifically so they
can use the roads.
Less than £10 billion of this is spent on roads.
Q: Do cyclists pay any specific, extra taxes in order to use their
vehicles on the road?
A: No. They are sponging freeloaders.

Leaves you vulnerable to proper traffic.

It is proper traffic.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

No wonder less than 2% of journeys are made by push bike.

Wrong.

Total *distance* travelled by bicycle is around 2%.

Distance travelled by bicycle in 2010 was 42 miles per person per year
which is similar to 1995/97 (43 miles). Cycling accounted for 2% of
trips of less than 5 miles in 2010.
https://www.gov.uk/government/upload...nts2010-03.pdf
