Beach Cruiser Rear Brake
Could anyone tell me if there is a rear caliper brake assembly that will
fit/install over my 3" wide rear fender? I didn't want to use a smaller one as I would have to bend or cut my fender to make it fit. Thanks! |

On a beach cruiser, the obvious solution is a coaster brake, but I can think of a few reasons why you might not be going that way. -- Ryan Cousineau http://www.wiredcola.com/ "In other newsgroups, they killfile trolls." You're probably out of luck there-- the largest caliper brakes generally available are the ones that are usually put on cruiser bikes. To mount a rear brake without modifying your fender or frame, it will have to be a coaster or drum brake. Chalo |

Thanks for the replies guys!
I kinda thought as you did, I motorized the bike, installed a new freewheel on the rear to get away from the coaster brake and installed a dual brake lever, after 50+ years since having a bike with a coaster brake I just couldn't get comfortable with it. I will look into the BMX option just in case it possible. Thanks! "Trapper" wrote in message news:JRHlk.188$EL2.107@trnddc01... If you have a really good bike shop in your area, you could have them braze on cantilever studs and use a conventional style cantilever brake (the kind with a straddle cable). This will burn a little bit of paint and require some touch-up. But you would have a good strong brake that completely cleared your tire and fender. Chalo |
