Steve Taylor -

Here is a hypothetical question.

If you suddenly received enough money that you no longer needed to
work for a living, and could do anything that you liked without
worrying about finances, how would you choose to spend your time?

-rj

P.S. Only reply if you will actually answer the question. It's a
serious question, and I honestly want to know the answer. Thanks.

That's an honest answer (the 'I don't know' part, I mean - the asshole
part is subjective, as Kurgan pointed out elsewhere). I can respect
that answer.

But certainly you can narrow it down to some possiblities, no? Would
you ride more and try to upgrade? Drink more in an effort to
LIVEDRUNK? Collect art? Take up hang gliding? Start a charity to
support victims of liver disease? Hide the money under the mattress
and keep your job? Take ESL classes?

Think on it some more and get back to me, please. Seriously.

I dunno about him, but I waste a lot of time on usenet. Bicycling of
course, hiking, paddling, camping, etc. Thank you, Boston Scientific:

How about, none of your business Reginald..

Who is Reginald?

Once you googlestalk someone to see what they do with their time and
money, and then lamely attempt to criticize it here in this public
forum, it becomes our business.

You're so bitter that Henry was born with some money that you never
take the time to consider that it may actually be something of a
curse. A lot of people born into money struggle to fill their time
with consistently meaningful pursuits. Not having to work for a
living makes it hard to maintain structure in life. It becomes very
easy to say 'I'll start that great project tomorrow,' but tomorrow
never comes.

But Henry isn't a layabout. You may not like the exact way he spends
his time, but the fact is he is quite productive.

You're famous in this forum for demanding that people answer your
questions, and yet you never answer questions that are put to you.
Why is that?

Maybe you meant to and forgot, or maybe you needed more time to think
about it - I would, it's a tough question - so I'll pose it once more.

How would you choose to spend your time, Mr. Taylor, if you were so
wealthy you did not need to work? This is a sincere question, so
please answer it sincerely if you are willing and able.

Dirtbag, that's "googlestock."

You're not holding your breath waiting for an answer, are you? Anyway, the
question I have for ST is: what did you hope to accomplish with that other thread?
That Henry would leave the group out of embarassment? That everyone would mock him
(yeah, Anton Berlin is doing that but that's one person. One.)? I'd say that Ted's
suggestion to him is the correct one. The likelihood it'll be taken is nil.

Here's my dream:

I would hire Bill Asher full time, and together we would make off-
topic posts to rbr 24/7.

Of course, I didn't really need to say "off topic." It was a given,
but it has gotten to the point where I need to state the obvious.
