This guy solved a BB problem on a Raleigh Twenty with a plastic cupped
FAG bottom bracket:

There's also the YST bottom bracket he

http://gaerlan.com/bikeparts/parts/crank/crank.html

Can't tell if it'll fit if there are any threads remaining in the shell.

And my experience with a similar YST bottom bracket wasn't particularly
great, but nasty-but-working beats not working.

Why not a Phil Wood Octalink BB ?

second question: how is the BB adjustable for different chain lines?

looks like $200.

remeber painting frame's insides with white rusto is essential at this
level.

The retainer rings have too small an inside diameter to fit a spindle.

They don't have shoulders, but tighten against the cartridge, so you
unscrew one side and screw the other in farther.

More like $100 for the cartridge, $35 for the rings.
