Implicated = accused by some doper who was caught, faces
severe penalties, and is now singing to the authorities.
What surprises me is that Clemens et.*al. deny the
accusations. He could say "You guys just write `Roger
Clemens does not deny the accusations'", or "It's so sad
to see a teammate this way. I hope he gets well", or "I
want to patch this up with Jason. As soon as the season is
over we can go on a hunting trip together."

Or he could just announce "Well since I'm already on the juice I think
I'll ride the Tour next year."

Like this?

MLADIN: [Throwing the towel back at Spies] Sheesh. He wins one championship
and thinks he can do anything. [More laughter.]

HODGSON: So I'm just frustrated to be leaving, really, that's how I feel.
I'm pleased for Ben. I think he's been cheating all year, but, you know,
everybody knows that. I'm joking.

SPIES: EPO.

HODGSON: No, it's not EPO. I've seen him on a bicycle. He's useless.
[Laughter] He kicked my ass all year, but I'll tell you, when it comes to
actual power of the legs, he ain't got a chance.

I like the multiple, "I never tested positive" statements is the articles.
I am waiting for "I am one of the most tested athletes in the world."

Yep, accused by a criminal caught red-handed and denying it, got to be
guilty as hell! How dare they deny it?! Damn those folks in Salem had
the right idea in 1692! or maybe these folks in history should be the
example since Pound IS on a Crusade:

I guess that I am tired of all of the BS on every side.

The athletes cheat.

Dick Pound thinks that it is OK to do whatever he thinks is reasonable to
catch them.

Pat McQuaid is mad a Dick Pound for focusing on cycling and for insinuating
that cyclists are guilty before the process is over.

McQuaid says if any rider linked to Fuentes is found innocent by their
federation that he will appeal to CAS, insinuating that all named riders are
guilty.

The UCI is trying to screw the owners of the grand tours out of their
products.

The big riders are too selfish to push back against the Pro Tour doping
clause so all due process gets eliminated.

It sounds like a bad made for TV drama.

Will that hunting trip be sponsored by the Dept. of Homeland Shooting An Old Man
In The Face?

It sounds like a bad (and really, what other kind is there?) reality TV show
concocted by FoxTV.

I don't even think Fox is that stupid. Sounds more like something
cooked up by Oliver Stone and those folks who tried to give us Survivor
Racist or whatever the hell it was.
Unfortunately reality is frequently stranger than fiction and in this
case it's getting awfully damned hard, as Frank was saying, to find
anybody who is an even vaguely sympathetic figure.
Of course we have the latest episode from those role models in
Washington on how to lie like a rug. Sorry for insulting rugs
everywhere.:

Just a snippett:

By PHILIP SHENON and MARK MAZZETTI
Published: October 3, 2006
JIDDA, Saudi Arabia, Oct. 2 - A review of White House records has
determined that George J. Tenet, then the director of central
intelligence, did brief Condoleezza Rice and other top officials on
July 10, 2001, about the looming threat from Al Qaeda, a State
Department spokesman said Monday.

The account by the spokesman, Sean McCormack, came hours after Ms.
Rice, the secretary of state, told reporters aboard her airplane that
she did not recall the specific meeting on July 10, noting that she had
met repeatedly with Mr. Tenet that summer about terrorist threats. Ms.
Rice, the national security adviser at the time, said it was
"incomprehensible" to suggest she had ignored dire terrorist
threats two months before the Sept. 11 attacks.

Mr. McCormack also said records showed that the Sept. 11 commission had
been informed about the meeting, a fact that former intelligence
officials and members of the commission confirmed on Monday.

Seems to be a public epidemic.
