That's what we're being regularly called by a BBC London radio talk
jock.
It seems we offend his British sense of fair play by being able to
negotiate the rush hour nightmare more merrily than he can in his 2
ton steel box. And we actually have fun doing it. Outrageous! And so,
presumably, we must be 'discouraged'. Made to pay road tax. Something.
But given that none of this will happen, all he can do is demonise us
and make it easier for some psycho-motorist to mow us down by
'accident'.
How do we feel about this? And we pay his wages.

Just another narrow minded fvckwit who doesn't who what he's talking
about and probably couldn't cycle to the corner shop to save his life.

When ever I get teased about my lycra I just tell thyem not to be
jealous just beacuse I have a physique that allows me to wear lycra
without have 'embarassing bulges' - the topic quickly changes

Object. Write to feedback. Write to the Director of Programmes at his
station. Write to the BBC governors. We are, after all, their bosses;
they are answerable to us.

And while we are at it let's get the Equal Opportunities Commission and the
Commission for Racial Equality involved after all some cyclists make it very
clear that they are a breed apart with a different belief system from that
of the average sane UK citizen :-)

There are far more serious things to complain about in life. After all one
can always tune into another station. The tastes of the minority do not
always take precedence over those of the majority and I suspect a letter of
protest will get the attention is deserves.

Hi Chris

Not all of 'em ;-)

I dislike the occasional anti-cycling stance in the DM/MoS as much as
you, the latest example being Kate Hoey's rant of two or three weeks
ago in the MoS. To be honest, Chris, the DM/MoS only rarely do an
anti-bike piece. They do, however, publish far too many 'motorists are
never wrong' articles or letters.

James,

Cheers for the reply. I wasn't particularly talking about the DM/MoS
having an anti-cyclist stance (although as you say, they can sometimes
appear to have). More a case of the 'something must be done' / 'I pay
their wages' / Daily Mail letters page routine which some people
espouse when a media outlet (especially the BBC) say something they
don't want to hear. Exactly the Mail's own editorial stance for years
when they referred to the BBC as 'Blair's mouthpiece'. Wasn't it
strange how the Mail suddenly started *supporting* the Beeb
('control-freak govt' etc ad nauseum) when the bust-up over David
Kelly happened?

The OP is implying that since he is a licence-payer, he believes he
should be able to exercise some sort of editorial control over the
broadcaster. B0110cks. If I were (hypothetically) a cager &
cyclist-hater, I could use exactly the same reasoning as the OP to
suggest there should be MORE cyclist-bashing on the guy's show. Well,
'I do pay his wages' after all, so he should say what I approve of,
right?

The 'ban it' / 'censor it' / 'shouldn't be allowed' attitude will not
help, and ultimately is just an excuse to stifle expressions of
opinion (no matter how effing stupid & ignorant those opinions are).
The OP should fight back, rather than 'telling teacher'. Man or mouse?
