Campy Ultra-Torque BBs: high drag?
I installed a Campy Chorus roughly a month ago, an have put ~200 miles
on it. I like the design and love the look, but I'm concerned by the amount of drag it has. When I remove the chain and spin crank a hard spin, it rotates about 3/4-1 revolution before stopping. The drag must be quite high, since it really does just stop. My previous crank (Record crank/square taper BB) didn't have this problem. I've read that external BB cranks generally have higher drag, but I didn't expect it to this degree. Is this unusual? Are there steps I can take to remedy (or at least minimize) the high drag? TIA, and Happy Holidays. |

Something is wrong. My Chorus UT crank spins nearly as smoothly as the old types and much better than the FSA w/ISIS BB that it replaced. Tim McTeague |

I have installed about a half dozen and one thing these don't have is the draggy-ness of shimano/FSA/Truvativ..something is amiss in this admittedly simple design. I would carefully check the BB shell width, ensure it is spot on 68 or 70mm..The washer in the left cup works well to solve problems of too small shells but not to large ones. |
