Motorist who killed cyclist actually gets jail time. 2/29/20

Way back on page B5 of today's--29 Feb 2020--we find this story.

Synopsis: Anthony Trusso (35) Killed Bob Lavin (62) on Bob's daily ride back in July 2019. No details how.
Trusso plead no contest and will be sentenced to 4 years.
With time served etc. he's expected to serve around 2 years.


I must admit that I'm surprised that he didn't get probation; that's the usual result, so I'm a little less cynical on this one.

A 12 year old was hit and killed and her sister injured. The driver stopped long enough to look back and see what he had done and then casually drove away. Since this was in an area with traffic cameras he "surrendered" himself later accompanied by his lawyer. The F150 was a jacked up with snow tires on it and he was making a right turn out onto the road at a crosswalk. His excuse? He didn't see her because his truck blocked the view of the little girl.

This is California so no doubt he will get a parking ticket and be let off.
