Freds think it really matters what kind of bike you ride.
Hmmm. Now, this describes a lot of the people I've seen on high-buck gear. And a lot of others. There must be a lot of Freds. Ed seems to be mixing a description of Rickies [as in Ricky Racer] with that of Freds. Rickies tend to be obsessed with bike equipment of every kind, whereas Freds mostly don't give a **** what they ride, as long as they can ride it. In most of the USA and Canada, there seems to be roughly equal numbers of Freds and Rickies, with the exception of the Inner Cities [mostly Freds] and the Affluent Enclaves [mostly Rickies]. -- "Bicycling is a healthy and manly pursuit with much to recommend it, and, unlike other foolish crazes, it has not died out." -- The Daily Telegraph (1877) |
