Default Sydney, Shops and Older Bikes

I'm going to be in Sydney for a few days next month and thought I
might check out one or two shops that might be friendly to 'older
bikes'.

I have a couple of ~20year old 27" wheel touring bikes and I am
interested to see what is available in terms of tyres and spin on gear
clusters etc.

Last time I asked these questions locally the bike attendant stared at
me for a minute before opening his mouth, and said:

"How would you like to buy a mountain bike?"

Can anyone recommend an older bike friendly store in Sydney for me?

TIA

SNOOPY

Dunno how they are for parts, but you might try
Cheeky Monkey Cycles, right next to the Central
rail station, http://www.cheekymonkey.com.au/
I suspect they'll have the right attitude at least.

Whenever I have enquired about old stuff people say ::::::
Jack Walsh at Punchbowl has it piled around the place.
In the yellow pages Bicycles.
I have never been there myself.

Best advice I can give is: Stay away from Clarence Street - they are
horrendously expensive, and cater for the yuppy cyclist. I've always had
good experience with Wooly's Wheels (Oxford St) and they have come up with
the goods on my old Shimano 7spd with parts in stock, so you might want to
try them.
