Default Freewheel threads query

Are Shimano & Suntour freewheels interchangeable, as far
as the threads they attach with are concerned? In reading
Sheldon's info, I can see they each require different tools to
remove them. (We're still livin' in the '80's here!).

Almost alwyas yes. There were indeed metric versions of
these but clearly marked and obsolete for many years. Very
unlikely you have one.

I've never seen a freewheel that didn't interchange. Regina, Sachs, or
SunTour.
But they all require different tools to remove.

Well, I have as has Andrew. But today it's very unlikely that you have a metric
freewheel.
