Bike wanted! Shortlist!

If I had a bike that would last forever I'd never get to buy a new bike. It would have to be a pretty cool bike then. My Utopia Kranich is the nearest thing I could buy to a bike I designed for myself and failed to find a trustworthy brazier for. But having a bike that lasts forever doesn't stop the committed cyclist looking... My shortlist holds three bikes, all with Rohloff gears: another Utopia Kranich in yellow (my present one is green with gold coachlines), a Thorn Raven tourer (Sheldon had one and swore by it, and lots of Americans with class import their own; it's probably the best fast touring bike you can buy), and a Utopia Phoenix, a semi-recliner quite unsuited to my hilly surroundings but a nice thing to have, currently out of production as they redevelop it to Kranich standards (I suspect they took over the design for the Scooterbike that I first looked into in the 1990s and didn't buy because it wasn't built well enough by the then-owners of the design). What's on your shortlist? Andre Jute Once I was even leaner and meaner |
