Default Dutch citybike? Batavus?

My wife is interested in finding a Dutch-style bike here in the US. She
mentioned a Batavus. They have a web site where bikes are in the 400 Euro
range.

Is there a US distributor of this style of bike?

Any other brands we should look for?

Thanks in advance,

James

The Milano? Not even close.

Batavus or Gazelle are the ones you're looking for... but getting them here
for 400 Euro will be tough.

I guess that's my point. Finding either brand mentioned is diffucult
and then getting them for $600-$700 is hard also. For a fendered,
commuter, the Milano, altho not the Euro Uber commuter of the others,
does it's job of gettin' there pretty well.

Breezers come pretty close for ~700 USD

Just saw a womans Batavus "The Eagle" in a Cincinnati thrift shop .
Frame okay; components work; needs all new rubber (tires are 37X540);
needs chain; dynamo works; frame lock works & still has it's original
leather fob.
Definitely needs some TLC: oil the oily things, grease the greasy things &
shine the shiny things.

....it is/was at "The Valley Thrift Shop" this past Thursday 8/28, if you're
interested...
They are/were only asking 15 bucks for it.
(*knew* I shoulda' bought it... but my bed is the only place left to put
it!) ;-)
Rgds...pay
