bmw driver 0 cyclist 1
bmw driver 0 cyclist 1 (match forfeited because of crowd trouble)
BMW driver pulls out in front of me from the left. He tries to 'force' his way into the line of traffic (coming the other way) but because of his lack of manners no driver will let him in. I have to brake because he is completely blocking the lane. I 'allow' my front wheel to push a small dent into his front door He has also been very busy on the phone since he pulled out into the road and it only my wheel against his door that makes him look up. "Did you touch my ****ing door !!?".......... "I'll ****ing break your legs if you have damaged my car". By this time he was holding traffic up both ways. He was mean.....about 16 stone.....maybe with the help of steroids. He just could not beleive that someone at least 50% smaller than him would have the affrontory to challenge his behaviour. I leaned down to him and softly told him two things; "Number one, this incident is being recorded on a anti-crime video across the road." "Number two, if and when the police come they will discover that you were using the phone in your hand whilst driving." I then 'gave him permission' with a hand gesture and a smile to be on his way. He thought very hard and then decided to be on his way..........shouting out of the window what he was going to do to me next time. How much would it cost to repair a small dent in a BMW 5 series door? (rhetorical) Sean. |

Just because you are affronted by an individual doesn't give you the right to commit a crime or become the policeman. (rhetorical) Depends where it is. In some cases nearly nothing. However, your actions have just added a tiny amount to everyone's insurance premiums as the number of cars with small dents goes up by one. As insurers tend to insure everything, even those without cars will find the costs passed on (we're all paying a bit for flooding elsewhere, terrorist attacks, sunken oil tankers, whatever). And there's another driver out there who thinks that all cyclists are insane lycra louts who shouldn't be allowed on the road because they damage cars with impunity. Your right Vernon I should have given him one of my best frowns and
left it at that...............although I did chuckle somewhat at 'your' ironic use of the words 'selfrighteous' and smug. Last year almost the exact same thing happened but I was unable to stop that time and t-boned into the car and landed on the other side in a lot of pain.........bike smashed in pieces...... Seeing the guy turning into a major road one-handed on the phone forcing me to brake must of stirred a subconcious desire for mischief. Sean. |

I drive a BMW, and my mountain bike's on the back seat since my last
off-road ride 2 days ago, and ready for my next one Saturday. (I travel all over the place to find a good off-road route). I usually have problems with Volvo's & Rovers - and no, I don't use my mobile whilst driving, and treat all who drive/cycle properly with respect. I also ride a road bike (yes seriously, not just to the shops), but am amazed at how many "Lycra clad" cyclists are pig-ignorant of other road users and hog the road, riding 2 abreast and even 3 abreast, for no other reason than that they are thick, arrogant idiots who are often the cause of aggression on the roads. Lets all use the roads/off-roads safely & with consideration for others. "Tony B" wrote in message ...
