Kilograms cost power to be hauled up hills and streamlining is probably the most important factor in speed. I think that the poorer performance of the rim brakes in the posted reference is probably due to them being single pivot calipers and, as the narrator says, the pads seem very hard. In short the better modulation of the disc brakes seems to be the main difference between the two brake systems. -- Cheers, John B. |
