Campy Shift Cable
The front shifter cable for my 9-speed Ergo levers
is wearing at the brifter---I noticed it when a strand began jabbing me today. Don't know if the local bike shop has Campy cables, but will find out tomorrow. If not, is there any reason not to use something else? Thanks -- Joe Riel |

I just use a Shimano or other quality cable and grind the button down to fit the Campy Ergo shifter. Cheers |

The other major brands have changed to a larger head which will just slip in but sticks in an amazingly difficult to remove manner. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

The local bike shop claims the Ergo cables are out of production and only carries the latest (forget the name), and only in the full sets, which would run me $90. I'm not going that route. Presumably I can obtain a Shimano inner cable and grind the head down. -- Joe Riel |

Really, I often wonder what idiots of LBS there are in the world: http://www.bike-components.de/produc...chaltzug-.html And the LBS's wonder why people prefer to shop on-line. The store I called is one of the better ones around here. Invariably, the stuff I want is not in stock, or has a ridiculous markup, usually both. There's no way anyone should fork out $90 to fix a frayed shifter cable. Of course, the online store (found a Campy wire on Amazon) will probably charge $5 for shipping, but I'm still way ahead. -- Joe Riel |

They charge 20 euro for postage to Australia. -- JS |
