Rear Der Compatibility
Is there any reason a nominally 9 speed Veloce read derailleur won't work
with a 10 speed system? Isn't the 9 speed / 10 speed difference all in the shifters? -Jim |

There are a few physical differences between the 9 and 10 rear derailleurs. One is the inner jockey wheel cage on 10 speed rear derailleurs is thinner than on 9 speed rear derailleurs. On 10 speed cassettes they get some extra room by offsetting the inner cog towards the spokes a little bit. So the rear derailleur jockey wheel inner cage has to get a little bit closer to the spokes. So Campagnolo makes that part a little bit thinner on 10 speed rear derailleurs. May be other physical differences too. |

If it's a newer Veloce, the pulleys are 9/10 anyway. I am told that the unit is narrower at the pulley but that never made any difference on any bikes I've used or set up. 8sp rear derailleurs work ok too. |
