Bracelets for Bike Lanes?

I live on a beautiful segregated bike trail that connects directly to
major employment and transit centers, and also happens to run past
trailer parks and cheap apartments. Yet there's no surge of bicycle
commuters on the trail, indeed, there are more bicycle commuters on the
street than on the trail.

Call them whatever insulting names you like, blue collar workers don't
drive because they're ignorant, they drive because they *like it* and *it
works*. If you want a transportation alternative to cars, try coming up
with one that *people like* and that *works* for them.

The most obvious answer is to stop zoning land use into large seas of
people storage miles away from where people work. If people can find
housing walking distance from work, they'll walk. If they can find
housing cycling distance from work, they'll ride. If they can only find
housing driving distance from work, they'll drive.
