Sore Knees

I ride about 3-4 times a week, 3-4 x 80-100-km rides.
I am getting sore knees, but not on my knee, just below them, ie, o
the tendon (patella tendon) that attaches the knee cap to the lower le
(tibia/fibula).
Any ideas as too why

Have you recently increased your riding in either intensity o
frequency?
Are you a spinner or a masher?

clipless or platform pedals?
Heels up or down-kind of pedal stroke?
white socks or wooly? ;
