Hit and Run scum sentenced

A motorist who drove off after hitting and seriously injuring a cyclist in Addlestone has been convicted.

Gayle Pilling, 40, was driving a silver Mercedes ML when the car hit Dr Darren Austin at the Green Lane junction on the High Street.

Dr Austin, 47, from Datchet, suffered from five fractured ribs, a fractured sternum, a triple-fractured wrist.

The victim was also left with numerous facial fractures and a separated shoulder.

Police said Pilling just "drove off" after the collision.

At Staines Magistrates' Court on Wednesday (September 9), Piling was sentenced after pleading guilty to the offences of failing to stop at the scene of an injury accident and failing to report the accident.
