Gear ratio? One at front, one at rear, connected by chain plu
crank/pedals, use real fast. As seen today by lots of over-excitabl
types down at Vodaphone Arena.:

1 "gear

2 sprockets or cogs (1 front chainring, 1 rear cog

Infinate speeds (just pedal slower or faster

There is no freewheel ratchet mechanism like 'normal' bikes, so rider
cannot 'coast' on them. e.g. If the bike moves - so do the pedals
Because of this, riders can slow down by slowing their pedaling speed o
applying slight back-pressure to the pedals

How good is track racing?!?! Yeah! :

Well, track racing and fixies have been around a lot longer than multi
geared bikes. I still see old timers riding (slowly) around town o
them. John Nicholson (previous World Champ?) was walking aroun
Vodaphone yesterday.

Better to sustain injury doing something you enjoy than live wrapped i
cotton wool, not doing anything for fear of getting hurt.

You could never ride a bike in your life and fall down the stairs on
day, destroying your knees.

It's a matter of changing your gearing to suit your knees and/or the race
you're in! You are able to change either the front chainring or the cog (or
both) to get a smaller or bigger gear.

Cheers
