Default Q: Warning about shoe cleat screw length

A warning in the materials that came with my new Sidis cautions against
the use of screws that thread into the sole more than 7mm for the rear
screws, 6mm for the front screw.

Reference is made to their lack of responsibility for damage if the
consumer exceeds these lenghts (the spelling in the Sidi lit ;-)).

What is the failure that could result if the consumer exceeded those
recommendations?

Just wondering,

Probably sore feet from the screws protruding far enough contact the soles.

Their warning appeared to be about the shoe itself. Have I
misinterpreted it?

You could have lumps under your feet.

Default Warning about shoe cleat screw length

Damage to the shoe itself probably means the screw will damage the
stiffining plate in the shoe's sole.
