Default RR: A Royal Mess

[Inline you know where]

Up in the Colorado high country lies a looming beacon of royalty. A
trail so high and so majestic it's name means the royal head. Behold...
Monarch Crest.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4548.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4555.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4557.jpg

But this Monarchy was angry. Angry at the poor peasants who gathered up
their belongings and headed out to pay homage to the kingdom.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4559.jpg

Reaching the start of the Monarch's castle gates, the clouds grew dark,
moist, and cold. But this wasn't enough to keep the peasants at bay.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4560.jpg

The lowly masses should have headed the warning signs the royal family
laid down. Even trying to obscure their view.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4562.jpg

But no, the deterrent was still not enough. So up the commoners charged.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4563.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4564.jpg

The King and Queen tantalized and teased us in their displeasure. They
began throwing rays of hope and visibility.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4565.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4566.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4567.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4568.jpg

And then laughing at the torture that followed.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4569.jpg

Then the Monarchy were threw playing with their puppets. They called in
their army and unleashed the mightiest assault the peasants had ever seen.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4571.jpg

Throwing skin peeling pellets from their skyward catapults, while
continuing the grueling of climbing to the castle center.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4572.jpg

And with a final call their Knights, the Monarchs unleashed everything
they hand with a loud bang and flash of light that sent the peasants
scattering for shelter.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4573.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4574.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4575.jpg

Cold, wet, weary, and beaten the once loyal subjects climbed with their
last icy gasp. Then they plummeted down a slippery rock step laden path
to their decision point.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4576.jpg

Do they bow their heads in shame, shivering from the cold and fright or
head on to the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow? The greedy
youngsters continued on while the elders (going almost the same
distance) went back to their huts to rest, eat, drink, and be merry.

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4577.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4578.jpg

http://www.schnauzers.ws/images/090906/IMG_4579.jpg

The moral of the thirty mile story...

Don't put your rain jacket on AFTER you are wet and cold. It doesn't help.

Hmmm. Can't get to your server at the moment, but I bet I know what it
was like. I bet Tom knows too and that's why we bailed. That hail can be
nasty stuff, eh? Glad you made it back, glad I didn't go!

Hmmm... Server is up. Odd.

Hail would have felt good. Better than sleet pounding you sideways with
a 30 mile an hour wind. Then the thunder snow. Twice, Monarch has
ruined my ride! Now I'm mad.

They were going to do Agate this morning, but my neck was killing me
(rock pillows in the cabins) and I saw some clouds (I'm skiddish now) so
I bailed and hit Mount Falcon back on the front range.

Hey Ride-A-Lot why are you copying me? You're posting URLs of picts
you've taken, then posting long captions for them, and I'm the one that
started this, is there a reason why you're copying me?

Do you want to be me Ridey-Sprinkler-TheLawn?

BTW, some really nice photos, I can stand your photos, but your videos
are just excelled boredom & nerd data.

I think until we see pictures or a video of you doing Mnt Falcon we'll
know you're lying. Feel free to post your evidence. Until you do no one
believes you.

Well now I see them. Could have been a dns issue on my home ISP (shrug).
Yep, I've done that before. I'll try not to do it again.

If you get the bug sometime you should come check out some fall riding
on the stuff I did yesterday. We did something like 35 Miles mostly on
fantastic singletrack and it was the perfect temp. Warm when the sun was
out and refreshingly cool when clouds passed over. No precip.

If it's not snowy and rainy like last October I'll be up again the second
week of this October ready to ride. Let's hope for that Indian Summer Tom
spoke about.

It's not the mountain. If you get caught in weather like that above
treeline, YOU have ****ed up. That's how dumb tourists get dead.

We were prepared, but it was still cold. I needed some mountaineering
training for my Mountain Bike Patrol certification anyway.
