He said the inquest would hear from an expert about using personal
stereo devices while cycling.

"(He) will indicate that even when used at low volume and, indeed, even
when turned off, the personal stereo devices are capable of seriously
interfering with a cyclist's ability to interpret the aural environment
around them," he said.

"It is possible for a cyclist who has no personal stereo device to
locate items which are emitting noise such as a truck in terms of both
their distance and direction but much more difficult when the personal
stereo device is being used."

Agreed.
For me, unencumbered ears make a good substitute for a rear-vision
mirror.

Doesn't he know a better result would be to require all stereos be
removed from cars and drivers must keep their window down?

Car drivers, after all, cause much more damage through innattention;
22% of all crashes are cause by it:

You'll have the motoretards after you! Don't you know they have a
goddamn *right* to drive as fast as they like, park wherever they like,
drink as much as they like, and kill as many cyclists and pedestrians as
they like? :-)

This is a cycling NG. Please stay on topic.

I apologise unreservedly.

I had not realised that you were also a target for the forger.
